Map pathfinder
How do I walk from here to there?
iWhat Map pathfinder is
Every map’s portals name the map they lead to, which makes the world a graph, and the shortest walk between two maps is a breadth-first search over it. No weights: a portal is a portal, and one screen of walking is much like the next. Where the portals stop at the water, the NPC who makes the crossing stands in for a door. The walk keeps to the Public Release’s own maps unless one end is a map only Closed Online Test 2 had.

The walk
iHow the route is found
Breadth-first over the portal graph, so the answer is the fewest doors rather than the shortest distance - nothing in the files says how long a map takes to cross. Portals count in both directions; a handful of one-way drops would otherwise make ordinary walks look impossible. The crossings no portal makes (Shanks from Southperry, the ship between Ellinia and Orbis) are recorded by hand and count one way each, as the game sails them: what an NPC does is not in the client’s files. There is no limit on length; the whole world is searched.
